Let's talk about being a girl's girl.
And no, I'm not talking about having a closet full of pink clothes, loving shopping, or having a hundred girlfriends. I'm talking about being the kind of woman who genuinely wants to see other women WIN.
The woman who compliments a stranger because she loves her outfit. The woman who shares another woman's business because she believes in what she's doing. The woman who celebrates someone else's success without questioning her own.
Because another woman's success doesn't take anything away from yours.
Women Are Pretty Incredible
Can we just take a moment to appreciate women?
The moms juggling careers, kids, appointments, meals, and a million invisible responsibilities.
The women building businesses while raising families.
The single moms doing the work of two people.
The daughters finding their voices, the grandmothers sharing their wisdom, and the women quietly holding everyone together while trying to hold themselves together, too.
Women are strong, resilient, creative, compassionate, and sometimes downright exhausted!
And while we're often the first to cheer for our children, partners, and friends, how often do we stop to cheer for each other?
Don't Just Think It. SAY IT!
Here's something I've been thinking about lately.
How many times have you walked past a woman and thought, "Wow, I love her hair!" or "That colour looks amazing on her!"
But you never actually said it?
SAY IT!
Tell her you love her shoes. Tell her she's doing an amazing job. Tell her you're proud of what she's accomplished.
You have absolutely no idea what kind of day that woman is having.
Your five-second compliment might be the brightest part of her entire day.
And the best part? Making someone else feel good has a beautiful way of making us feel good, too.
Supporting Women Doesn't Have to Cost a Penny
Being a girl's girl isn't about spending money.
It's about showing up.
Share your friend's business post. Recommend her services. Leave a thoughtful review. Celebrate her accomplishments. Check in on the mom who seems to have everything together.
And when another woman succeeds? Clap for her!
We don't need to compete for the spotlight. There's plenty of room for all of us to shine.
And Let's Not Forget Our Daughters
Here's where I think this becomes even more important.
Our daughters are watching.
They're listening when we compliment another woman. They're noticing when we celebrate someone's success. And they're also hearing when we criticize someone's appearance or gossip behind her back.
We're teaching our daughters what female friendship and support look like through our everyday actions.
Imagine raising a generation of girls who don't see other girls as competition.
Girls who cheer for their friends, include the girl sitting alone, celebrate each other's differences, and understand that kindness is a strength.
And moms, let's remember to support each other, too.
Motherhood is hard enough without judgment from other mothers. We don't all parent the same way, and that's okay. Sometimes the most powerful thing we can say to another mom is, "You're doing a great job."
🌸 Your Monthly Girl's Girl Challenge
This month, I'm challenging you to become a little more intentional about lifting other women up.
Try these five simple things:
Give five genuine compliments. If you think something kind about another woman, say it out loud!
Support three women-owned businesses. Share a post, leave a review, recommend their services, or make a purchase if you can.
Celebrate another woman's win. Big or small. Let her know you're cheering for her.
Reach out to a woman who might need encouragement. A mom, friend, sister, coworker, or someone you haven't connected with in a while.
Teach a young girl to lift others up. Encourage your daughter, granddaughter, or a girl in your life to compliment, include, and celebrate another girl.
And here's a little bonus challenge: The next time you're tempted to compare yourself to another woman, turn that comparison into admiration.
A Little Reminder Before You Go
Life isn't a competition, ladies.
We're all trying to figure things out, raise good humans, chase our dreams, pay our bills, and find a little happiness along the way.
Some days we're thriving. Other days we're just trying to get through until bedtime.
So let's be a little kinder. A little louder with our compliments. A little more generous with our encouragement.
Because when women support women, incredible things can happen.
Be the woman who fixes another woman's crown without telling the world it was crooked.
And remember, there's room for ALL of us to shine. 💕
With love,
